Reds eye Owen and Drogba

Michael Owen, Liverpool legend and goalscorer who scored 118 goals for the club, may return due to the players out of contract circumstances.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rogers said this week that he was unsuccessful in his summer transfers, letting striker Andy Carroll go on loan to West Ham and not replacing him. Liverpool were after Fulham’s Clint Dempsey and Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge on deadline day, but no deals were made regarding either player.

This now leaves Liverpool in a tough situation where they only have two recognised strikers up front which is a concern for the manager.

Also on deadline day, a deal between Michael Owen and Stoke City was emerging, but as time passed no more was said and Owen continues to be out of a contract after Manchester United released him over the summer.

Surely the dream of many fans would be to see him pull on the red jersey after all this time, but can they forgive him for playing for bitter rivals United for three years?

A more far fetched rumour is that Drogba is to go to Anfield, as he may be out of contract at Shanghai, but Liverpool would have to splash near £200,000 a week to even vaguely attract Drogba, who is 34 years old.

Comment if you are a Liverpool fan, would you like to see either of these two greats to play for your club?

Do you forgive Michael Owen and would you welcome his return?
